This 2-story Carriage House stretches 45’ wide along Rittenhouse’s quaint Waverly Street.
This was the dream house of a local Philadelphia artist who commissioned renowned architect Alan Metcalfe of Metcalfe Design & Architecture to combine three (3) historic carriage houses into a passionate living & versatile studio space.
We were asked to redesign the entire Master Suite including Master Bathroom and Master Closet and add custom design furnishings such as the dining table and chairs, as well as the kitchen stools. To provide separation between the Master Suite and the common area, we’ve sourced and restored a 1940s iron door reclaimed from a bank in NYC. This beautifully crafted door received a new frame and custom hardware which allowed this heavy piece to operate smoothly.
The Master Bath required multiple shower heads to provide the ultimate luxury experience. Classic marble, green tile accents, as well as the walnut vanity were meant to complement the existing wood ceiling. The special 2nd bathroom with copper fixtures, heavily textured and saturated walls is all about relaxation. The antique 1920 cabinet was retrofitted to function as a vanity and adds just another touch of an artful character.
